A hawk and trowel necessary tools used to apply cement plaster.  You should select a proper sized trowel for the project at hand. Too large or too small will make a difference. Try to go mid stream until you find which will work best for you.

Brushes, these brushes are very useful tools. Good for clean up. Can be used to knock rough edges off, clean inside corners, put water onto the walls to clean excess plaster off windows or pipes or brush foundations. Brooms will also work when applying water. We use push brooms to knock cement clinkers off ceiling after spraying the first coat or scratch coat. Do not attempt to plaster without one!
